We must return to proclaiming powerfully and joyfully the event of Christ's death and Resurrection, heart of Christianity, principal fulcrum of our faith, powerful lever of our certainty, impetuous wind that sweeps away every fear and indecision, every doubt and human calculation. — B16

Title Ideas

Book news:

Marketing threw out the name “Jesus Shaped Spirituality.” I have to have a new name for the book.

My editor says that this won’t alter content much if at all, so I can relax. Everyone is very happy with the book and they think it will be a top release next year if I can help them with a name.

JSS sounds too much like something the Internet Monk would NOT write. I get this, even though JS is an IM brand that carries weight with a lot of readers and even my adversaries ridicule it. It does sound like something in the Beth Moore section.

The book is 1) a pointed critique of evangelicalism, per my usual style, but ramped up, 2) a recognition that many who have left evangelicalism had good reason to do so and 3) a reconstruction of being a disciple that isn’t dependent on the worst things about evangelicalism.

What I need is something that sounds like the critical, provocative edge of the IM blog’s approach to evangelicalism. The title needs to say “This is pointed. It’s going to say what others see but won’t say. It’s going to call some shots others look away from.”

So I need some help. Ideas for a book title and/or subtitle. Jesus shaped can’t be in the title. May be in the subtitle, but not necessarily wanted by marketing.

If you have ideas or questions, WRITE ME at michaelATinternetmonk.com. I may NOT acknowledge, and if I use your idea in some form, don’t count on seeing your name in the preface.

I’m going to work on this when I finish revising. Thanks for any and all help.
