We must return to proclaiming powerfully and joyfully the event of Christ's death and Resurrection, heart of Christianity, principal fulcrum of our faith, powerful lever of our certainty, impetuous wind that sweeps away every fear and indecision, every doubt and human calculation. — B16

I can be beaten up by logical arrangement of verses. But I can’t believe in Jesus who comes to intentionally only save the elect. (Mostly PCA and TR.)

In my experience, it’s the logical arrangement of verses that attracts people to the “L” and (over all) the accompanying mindset. The appeal to reduce Gospel to logical arguments that we can make sense of, master, and that can categorize people as in or out.

But, when you take the story of a self revealing God and his overtures and actions of salvation toward a broken humanity that he continues to love… well, Jesus pissed off those making arguments and drawing lines in his day too.

The arugements can always be stacked in favor of “L”, but at the end of the day it takes some crazy gymnastics to not see that the point of the story is Jesus offer salvation to all.
